Personality
Arsonist came into the world kicking and squealing and he hasn't really stopped. The flamboyant creature was a wild child for his dam, often nipping her, yanking her mane to pieces before running away to escape her chastising teeth. The bay horse takes after his sire in appearance with his big, broad chest and smart head. He has his mama's fierce intelligence. He was a looker from the beginning and surprisingly, one of the most attention-hogging babies on the farm. The staff loved him from the start as he would pose for photos, nailing the look of eagles before a bit had even graced his mouth. His intelligence made him an easy horse to train. He wasn't exactly a fan of the breaking process, but once he accepted the human on his back, Arson was ready and willing to go along with the racing thing. He'd prance under saddle, flex his neck muscles and strut his stuff as if he'd been born ready.
The handsome bay horse is a bit of a demon on the track, in a good way of course. He is a full on morning glory, often setting off blazing workout fractions that spin the clocker's hat around. His striding is efficient and strong, bold and brave, and mightily impressive. He can be very hard to handle in the morning as he really relishes his alone time. If Ripley needs the horse to tighten up before a big race, she'll just send him out for a three furlong barn burner and he'll be at the top of his game next race out. Arson becomes more malleable in the afternoon, opposite of what you'd normally expect, what with the loud crowds, the gate contraption and the company of the other horses. He's a looky-Lou around the gate, but the second he's inside, he's all focus. His breaks are always well timed and he'll lunge forward with the strength of a linebacker. Arson is a swift son of a gun and can make it to the lead in the blink of an eye. He's not a full-bore front runner so if someone just a bit quicker comes along, he isn't going to burn himself up. Arson is the type of horse that gets more confident as he goes along, buoyed by his lineage's well of stamina. It doesn't matter if he has the lead or not at the turn, Arson will slap it into high gear and cruise to an open lengths lead, daring his opponents to run him down, if they can. |
