Personality
Skyfall isn't the most attractive filly on the block, with her big mule ears and semi-awkward body type. What she lacks in the beauty department, is made up by her personality. She is a sweetheart no matter the scenario, often looking for pets and rubs as if she were a dog rather than an athlete. She is a small, dainty looking creature who seems to be hyper-aware of her size as she is always the one looking for the hole in the fence, stall or track. It was an interesting sight to see when Malcolm was trying to break her to saddle. Simply because he couldn't personally do it and actually had to enlist Kendall for her help. He claimed it just didn't feel right for a bull to mess with a china doll like Skyfall. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and will give everything she has to do right by her humans. Her cheerful attitude made her instantly likable, especially after dealing with the Y18 born crew.
On the track, Skyfall can get a little lost and needs her blinkers to remain focused. She is not a ditsy type of horse, but the sheer spacial area of the track can overwhelm her at times. She wears ear plugs during the afternoon to keep her mind on business as the shouting of the crowd tends to intimidate her. Skyfall is a pretty quick warm up as she is on "go" from the moment she hits the turf. You'll often find this filly jigging and dancing in the post parade, frustrated by being tied to a pony, but as soon as she's released she'll settle down. Being small, you'd peg her for a front running swift type, but she isn't the best gatehorse. She'll tend to fidget until she's released, which sometimes results in an awkward break. The gray filly will take a moment to get a hold of herself before settling in a mid-pack or closing position. Not one for the crowds of the much bigger horses, Skyfall would rather be found following than leading or being in the pack. Her style tends to make for dramatic finishes as she won't necessarily get going until right before the final turn. Her late kick is fairly impressive, but the display of her grit and determination is immeasurable as she pours it on down the lane. |
