personality
Talk about a bossy animal. Sun King is devastatingly brutal when he is around other horses even at such a young age. He is mean spirited around the weaker Brain Trust and often bullies the smaller colt when Finale Slew and Summer Romance are not around to fight him off. Where the colt got such an awful temper, Ripley is not quite so sure. Sunny was never a bully and Native Flame, though big, never flaunted his strength in such a violent fashion. The second son of El Sol del Mar sure does have all kinds of attitude. He only makes up for it by being brutally fast and quick. The 16.1 hand horse is quite a looker. Ripley is sure that if they can get past his rough and tough attitude, that there is a diamond beneath all the rust. In hindsight, Ripley is so happy that El Sol del Mar's small size balanced out Native Flame's huge size. A larger, tougher Sun King would be hard to deal with. Sun King is only nice at feed time which ironically is the time that an aggressive horse is often more aggressive. The colt has a body that ripples with muscles even without training. He's tough and he's dangerous, but he's beautiful. El Sol del Mar sure threw a looker when she had this one. When he stands still around the paddock under the midday sun, he looks the part of a Roman sculpture. While smart, he is not dangerously cunning. Where Black Magic's ferocity is all a bravado, Sun King's ferocity is a sure thing if he doesn't get his way. The colt nips and bites like no tomorrow and at one point would have been pushed into a muzzle if it hadn't been for Malcolm's slick handling. The copper chestnut colt is a very unique son of El Sol del Mar. He is strong, fierce, and always game for a challenge whenever one arises. King will be the first to break through the gate and rush up to the lead and while he won't stay there, his presence will surely be felt. He'll run just off the leader's hip, on the outside or the inside. The colt does not intimidate easily and will brush up against other horses and the rail as if they weren't there. He'll stay locked on the leader with the critical eyes of a fierce rival and will only abandon that task the moment they reach the far turn. King is usually the first horse to enter the homestretch as the leaders fall away under so much pressure. The chestnut horse is also the toughest horse to get by in the homestretch. He'll lock in on the wire and will not let anyone run faster than him to get to it. He makes an incredible impression and his work ethnic is nearly similar to his dam. Unlike his dam, however, Sun King hordes all of the attention and accepts it as if it his is natural born right.
