Personality
Ashes to Ashes is more than just a challenge. He's a legit freak of nature. He's a big son of a gun with a gigantic chest and muscular hind end. Honestly, he's the most coordinated, built colt currently at Witch Creek. He's got quite the temper to him as well. You can't muscle him around because he'll muscle you right back and then pretend that you kicked him. He runs effortlessly if you can get him to run. But good luck. He takes one stride to most other horses two and will run circles in the paddock. But you can't command this horse. As headstrong as he is, it's like talking to a brick wall. He'll squeal and stomp, plant his hooves right into the dirt and not budge an inch. He has fire in his eyes and most of the time, Ash uses it not your advantage but to his. The big bay hates being crowded and currently lives in the biggest box stall in the racing string barn. As a result of his claustrophobia, Ash is not too much of a fan of the gate. He can't have a rider on his back and instead of being led in from the back, this power house of a colt has to be backed in from the front and the gates closed at the last second. He'll get frantic and will break a couple human bones in the process if it does not go to the plans. The only person at the moment that even can command Ash's quick, ADD mind, is Brookson. He's the only that can speak to him through words and motions. Brooks is sure that the colt loves country music. During a workout or race if Brooks sings to the colt, he'll instantly pick up a quicker and longer stride. It's as if the colt needs background music in order to get the job done. The colt is warmed up only in a light jog or canter alongside a lead pony and then will take over when the gates break open. Like Crooked Fire, Ash has killer precocious speed. At the gate break, he'll instantly break outward, knees lifted and off like an airplane taking off. Ash will run right to the lead and hold down that position in the field for most of the race. He hates having horses around him so this position works out pretty well for him. If another horse comes up to him, Ash will leap away to gain back the lost ground and settle right back into his cruising stride. He runs and runs for as long as he's asked, always relatively inside himself. He doesn't run because he's told to and if he was told to, you bet your house he'd stop on a dime right in the middle of the race. If the jockey even goes to the whip, Ash will plant himself down on his butt and not go any farther. Luckily for him, Brooks and Witch Creek never use a whip. In the winner's circle, Ash will flaunt himself about, clearly knowing that is a super star despite his erratic mind and habits. He has a tough look to him and instantly commands the bettors attention based on his paddock looks. Surprisingly, stressful situations don't freak Ash out. He takes everything in stride, analyzes it, then puts it to the back of his mind. He's a confident horse with power and precociousness.
