Personality
Always the character, Tack is the first to greet his staff with a boisterous neigh and a soft nuzzle. He's not the horse to put a hoof out of place and the least likely to cause any sort of trouble for his humans. He's not an angel, but Tack is pretty close to it. He loves attention and especially loves the taste of molasses as his handlers discovered when the colt was sick early in his life. Lord help the soul who has to trick this young buck into eating his meds if they don't have a drop of molasses. He was really quick to pick up his lessons, although he would kick up his heels--and still does--just to remind his people that he is a young hot shot, albeit a kind one.
On the track, Tack is a cool customer and not easily intimidated, in part because he just doesn't care. He does have quite the competitive streak and gets a little rowdy if roughened up coming out of the gate, pushing his foes out of his way like nothing. He doesn't have an explosive break, but his long strides usually catch him up to speed by the first quarter. He runs with his head up and ears pricked as if racing were just a game. Loaded with stamina, top and bottom, Alnitak can handle being drifted wide around the turn and he is agile enough to cut it close to the rail, if necessary. He tends to make his winning move around the far turn, where he'll leap into high gear on cue and inhale his opposition. He can wait on his competition if he hits the front too soon, but a few taps on the behind, keep his mind in a winning direction.
