personality
Queenie is not the easiest horse to get along with. Her domineering attitude and irritable nature make her one of the least likely horses to win your heart. She is very beautiful, but pretty is as pretty does. And pretty in this case is trouble. The dark bay filly will bite, kick and demand that she gets her way at all costs. She is a fighter, a tough nut and the hardest horse to handle. She has been known to pull people all over the backside because she wanted that one minuscule slice of grass. In the paddock, Calamity Queen is a dangerous one. She dances side to side, swinging her threatening rear at anyone who comes close. She does not wear a chain because they cause problems down the road. Her violence is hard to deal with if you don't have quick feet yourself. She'll stand in the saddling stall as long as she is facing a solid cement wall, away from the people who she sees as a challenge to her authority. She doesn't object to being tacked up, knowing it means she will race. On the track, Calamity Queen is all business. She is focused and impossible to deal with if your an outrider or gate assistant. Those people are not her biggest fans. And Queenie's not a fan of them. She loves the opening gallop, stretching her limbs and seems to shake off whatever was nagging at her in the saddling ring. Her rider needs to be confident and not be afraid to take charge. Queenie will fight commands, but she'll give in eventually if she believes it was her idea all along. The dark bay filly loads easily and most times stands quietly. When the gate breaks, Queenie launches out of the stall like a rocket shift and immediately takes to the lead. She bounds effortlessly and really knows how to maintain herself whether it be a mile race or a distance one. There is always something special waiting for her next victims at the end of the race. If there was one thing Calamity Queen inherited from Royal Assault it is her will and determination to win. Perhaps because she is always finding herself holding other horses off, Queenie possesses more courage than even her dam.
