Personality
Hokum is a hard to handle colt with a bad attitude and even worse mindset. He fights everyone around him, including the other horses. He is not friendly in the least and will charge people no matter who they are when they come to fetch him from the paddock. He pins his ears and puts on an aggressive showing, flicking his tail, rolling his eyes and flashing his hooves in the despised human's direction. His powerful 18 hand body is beyond intimidating and he knows it. He has to where a chain on his nose every where he goes and even that doesn't necessarily helps. He pushes off the ground with his back legs, flinging the person around, tossing his head, pawing the earth. Hokum is not a push-button kind hearted horse. He is quite the opposite. He is like Native Flame only hateful. The big man is glorious looking, a sculpture of a God's horse, but he can't be tamed. He has a mental nature that simply cannot allow it. Any sign of affection seems him over the edge, squealing and striking. If it was not for his talent on the track, Ripley would sell him in a heartbeat. However, she has a secret weapon named Justin Santiago who has already proven that he can turn a barely tamed lion into a kitten. The boy has a distant connection with the bay colt, but it is a glassy one. He cannot command the horse in anyway. No one can. They have to ask politely or Hokum's no nonsense attitude would turn into a ballistic weapon of massive proportions. He is quiet in the post parade, not a fan of the outrider's horse or the outrider himself. Justin has to sit as still as a statue throughout the parade and in the gate. Again, the outrider's presence is not a very welcoming one to the large colt. But he has a reason. Being overwhelmingly powerful and tall, Hokum is not a fan of being gated. He'll go in, but as soon as those doors open, the bay will break like a shot in order to escape the metallic beast. He has an impressive cruising speed with giant strides and for such a large horse he is incredibly agile. He can get boxed in and break right out of it without breaking a sweat. He has the talent to run from a mile to twelve furlongs and is extremely promising. For all of his faults, the horse is pretty kind during the race and loves to be in the winner's circle. He'll pose for hours, playing with the bit and showing a side that few people get to know.
