Personality
Jessie's Girl exudes class at even the briefest of glances. Her classic and perfect appearance drew Ripley in so much so that she approached Stride Of Perfection Stable's Amber Black before the filly even entered the sales ring. It didn't hurt that she was a daughter of Jessie James, Ripley's biggest outside-stallion crush since the great Night Stalker. The bay filly carries herself with pride and her eyes are always gleaming with intelligence, as if she's analyzing everything around her. A workhorse to the bone, Jessie can gallop for miles in the mornings and would willingly do so if her humans would just let the reins out a notch. Jessie was pretty easy to break to saddle and has a kindness about her that is pretty unexpected for her breeding. She's the biggest ham of the Year Nineteen crop and she knows exactly where that camera is at all times. Her poise makes her a pretty chill runner, especially in the noisy paddock and post parade. She'll give a subtle flick of her ears and strut along as cool as a cucumber while her opponents tire themselves with their prancing and poor manners.
Jessie sucks up all the attention at the gate, oftentimes her jockey has to remind the gate workers not to pet her too long or the filly will forget her job. They'll only smirk, make a promise to visit her in the morning and then turn their attention to the track. For all the distraction, Jessie is an average breaker, moving with the rest of the pack in the first hundred or so yards. She's a rare horse in that she doesn't have a designated running style. She can settle at the back of the pack, run with the pack, stalk or lead depending on her day. Her jockey is given a gift where they can essentially point her and shoot. As a larger filly, Jessie's Girl intimidates her competition and isn't afraid of a dog fight when establishing position. Her jockey can flip the switch at the turn and expect her power to bring them home. Jessie will flatten her body parallel to the ground, daring her competition to run with her down the lane. No other horse ever had a nose for the wire quite like this classy dame. |
