Personality
"I was drawn to this pedigree because of the versatility it has and the romantic combination of Warm Wishes and the ultra-successful female family of Lusitania. The sire was a gutsy guy, a sweetheart to the bone and the dam, Diana, was talented, but unlucky on several head-bobs. Their daughter, Riot Act, gives me great pleasure in combining two brilliant female families and actually having a visual of it in Riot Act's chestnut coloring--something we definitely did not expect."
- from Ripley's personal journal
The little train that could has nothing on this jack rabbit of a chestnut. Riot Act is fleet footed, fleet minded and keeps all of her people on their toes. A joy to be around, Riot has something up her sleeve to put a smile on the staff's faces. The filly can get a little marish, pinning her ears and snaking her head out at passers by, but she never actually means it. A simple chastisement will do and then she'll be back to her excitable self. She loves to be in the thick of it, thriving in the noise and the frequent comings and goings. She actually will get depressed if left alone too long and makes it known with her high pitched squeals and pawing. Riot pulls her handlers around like a little bulldog, tucking her chin to her chest as if she is always late to a meeting. She'll let loose a long winded whinny to announce her presence on the track much to her people's chagrin.
Riot is a rocket on the track, flying around with her neck bowed and tail in the air. She's a real fireball and not easily controlled in her morning workouts, but at least she doesn't tire easily. Riot keeps her athletic frame well for such a hyper filly and is actually pretty well-meant for stamina laden exercises. A favorite of the gate-workers, Riot soaks up the pats and rubs while she waits for her turn in the gate. The filly is at best performance in a race, often breaking on top of the field before settling back into her customary position in the top five. She'll settle off an any kind of pace, pricking her ears and acting like a real pro--completely opposite of her morning self. With a flourish, Riot will burst to the lead when they hit the stretch. She'll drive to the finish, keeping about her business of running fast without any urging at all. If any horse dares to come at her in the final strides, Riot will pin her ears to her skull and give it all her heart.
